Fun mode vs real money casino play: same games, different stakes
The games stay the same; almost everything around them changes. In fun mode at Springbok you play logged out on a R1,000.00 balance that can never be withdrawn. With real money you need a registered account, every bet comes out of your own rand, and winnings leave only on Springbok's terms. The gentlest first real step is the R250 no-deposit chip, and your budget comes before any of it.
18+. Code TEST-SPRINGBOK goes into Redeem Coupon before any deposit; 60x wagering, R1,250 max payout. Set a budget first.
Fun balance
R1,000.00
Enough for 200 rounds at R5 if every round comes back empty.
Springbok says the lobby's fun balance is one-off and is not refilled. Fun money never pays out.
Real balance
R0.00
Play needs a Springbok account. The gentlest first real step is the R250 no-deposit chip, code TEST-SPRINGBOK.
Budget first. Fix the most you are willing to lose before any deposit, and walk away once it is spent.

Step one: an account, and only if you are 18 or older
Fun mode asks for no name, email or card. Real money starts with registration: your bets now belong to a named account, so they earn comp points and count towards any bonus. Only adults may sign up, and before the first withdrawal Springbok asks for ID and a recent proof of address, uploaded from the cashier.
Redeem Coupon comes before the deposit
First-time depositors miss this most often. Springbok's T&Cs say a coupon must be redeemed in the cashier before you deposit and cannot be added afterwards. Fun mode has no cashier at all, so this is the first truly new habit.
Log in and open the cashier
Find Redeem Coupon and type the code exactly as written, hyphen included.
Check the bonus is attached
Only then deposit, if it is a deposit coupon. The R250 chip needs no deposit at all.
Play games that count
Wagering counts on slots and a few named games, not on roulette, blackjack, video poker or the card tables.
For a click-by-click walk through the cashier, see how to redeem a Springbok coupon.
The R250 chip: real money with no deposit
The no-deposit chip is the bridge between the two modes. The promotions page lists R250 free at 60x wagering, which means R15,000 in bets before any of it can be withdrawn. The payout cap is where Springbok's pages disagree: its promotions page and the T&Cs give R1,250, while a few older Springbok pages still say R500. Conflicting sources, checked 9 October 2026 With the T&Cs behind it, R1,250 is the figure to plan around.
- Play it on slots, where wagering counts; the free slots guide shows what to try first in fun mode.
- Keep every bet at or under R100 while the bonus is active, or winnings can be voided.
- Springbok's articles say the chip can be claimed once per account.
- Withdrawals start at R500, so a smaller chip balance cannot be cashed out as it stands.
The welcome package: later, and only with a plan
Next comes the welcome package: up to R11,500 over three deposits, a 100% match up to R1,500 on the first and 50% up to R5,000 on each of the next two. Wagering is 30x the deposit plus the bonus, so a match bonus is not free money in the fun-mode sense.
Set your budget before the first real bet
Fun mode has a stop built in: the balance runs out, and Springbok says it does not come back. Real money has no such stop unless you make one, so do it while nothing is at stake.
Pick a monthly figure
Money you could lose without missing a bill or a debit order. Write it down and split it into sessions.
Choose the stake from the session share
Start from the stake you practised with, and check how many rounds your share allows.
Ask Springbok for a deposit limit
Springbok's responsible gaming page says support sets daily or monthly deposit limits, and self-exclusion, on request.

What carries over from practice, and what stays behind
Comes with you
- The rules and pay tables you learnt
- A feel for how fast a stake uses up a balance
- The habit of stopping when your time is up
Stays in fun mode
- Every fun-chip win: none of it transfers
- Any streak, hot or cold
- The idea that a game is due
If real play starts to feel like chasing a fun-mode result, stop for the day. When you want to learn a new game, go back to how practice mode works.

Questions people ask
Is fun mode the same as playing for real money?
The games and rules are the same; the money is not. Fun chips cannot be withdrawn, coupons and comp points need an account, and every round is random in both modes.
Can I move my fun-mode winnings into a real account?
No. Fun chips have no cash value and stay in practice mode.
Do I have to deposit to play for real at Springbok?
Not at first. The R250 chip needs no deposit; it carries 60x wagering and a R1,250 cap on the promotions page.
